Amalfi Coast-Unbelievable!

So on my part I goofed big time! I know we were all tired of running and seeing so I thought what a good idea to take one day off, kick back and then drive the Amalfi Coast on the way to Rome. Bad idea! We ate breakfast and then checked out of the room and it was already 9am. It takes 2 1/2 hours from Sorrento to get to Rome, that is where our next stop is. When I made the reservation for the rental car, I said I would drop the car off at the Airport 25 kilometers west of Rome. Well you see the problem? We are now adding an hour to see the Amalfi Coast and that is without stops! YIKES! PANIC! Well on the inside anyway. I tried not to show my panic cause I was panicked. But anyway, the Amalfi Coast is so very beautiful. Bud drove at first but Travis gets car sick so right before Positano, Travis started driving and we only stopped twice. We stopped to take pictures when we first arrived at the coast and then to put 4 locks on a aluminum netting to hold off little landslides on the side of the steep hill. We were going to do it on the Walk of Love but forgot to buy them. Carleigh remembered when we were at a store and bought 4. So we chose that place between Positano and Almalfi to lock them up. There was one for each couple and one for Carleigh's Stuffies (a cute stuffed monkey and lamb) and one for all of our names. It is kinda neat to think those locks are there and through them we are there in spirit! We threw the keys into a steep ravine, never to be found again!

We did make it to the airport only about 40 minutes late, not too shabby! Travis made up time on the Autostrada. We thought we had some leeway because when we picked up the car, we were suppose to get it at noon, but we didn't drive off the lot till 1:45pm.

What I suggest to those coming over to Italy, do give time to drive the Amalfi Coast and stop in the little towns of Positano and Amalfi, they looked very pretty and very interesting! But now we are off to Rome!

Capri-More Pictures

Capri-A Little Bit More

Travis and Carleigh at the beach, Travis and Viki at the beach, Bud, Travis and Carleigh in the water and Carleigh at the post office! A very fun and successful day!!!! I LOVE CAPRI!!!

Oh wait a minute! Who is that man in the bottom picture? This man was on the rock that Travis wanted to be with Bud to take a picture, not just any picture but an EPIC picture. But this man stayed on this rock for about 20 minutes looking hot, well he thought so anyway so Travis chose a different rock! So that man is in my photos and I think that is what he wanted in the first place :) Ciao Baby!

Capri-A Little Bit of Heaven

We took the ferry out of Sorrento and it only takes about 40 minutes to cross to Capri. The Isle of Capri is know for the Blue Grotto but we won't be doing that we just want to see the island and swim in the Mediteranean Sea. The weather is hot...as usual but there is a breeze. We get off the ferry and decide to climb the hill to the town of Capri and mail some M&M's to a friend of Carleigh's and Travis' in Vienna. We have been looking for a post office since the trip first started but it is difficult to find a post office in a different language. Also time constraints, I packed so much into what to see I didn't leave time for much else, luckily I left time for eating! We in the United States are spoiled by how many ways we can mail a package buy food in so many grocery stores and find fast food almost anywhere. Not so much in foreign countries. It set off us on an adventure! I wanted to go on the Funicular but no one understood me so up we climbed the stairs and more stairs and more stairs and more stairs and more stairs, it was :( but amazing at the same time. I kinda wanted to go up the stairs but it was difficult. Once was enough let me tell you!!! At the post office they didn't have boxes or anything to mail packages with. So Bud and I went to two stores before we found a box to mail the M&M's with. I stayed and shopped at the store and Bud took the box to the Post Office for Carleigh. And I had to buy from the girl there because she was so nice to give us a box right? :) So I bought a tile that was a picture of Capri! Carleigh was able to mail the package just before it closed, we didn't have a heart attack and we shopped and had lunch up there! Great time and it was beautiful. Then we took the Funicular down. The Funicular is like a train that takes passengers straight up the hill and then takes passengers straight down the hill. It was alot easier on the body!!! Then we found a beach!!!!

Sorrento-Views from our Balcony

These are the beautiful views from our balcony! I left my curtains open at night so I could look at it while falling asleep and when I awoke the next morning! When I was younger I would want to walk down a be a part of it, but now I am happy just to sit back in the shade and look at it!

Pictures of Sorrento

Sorrento: A Place of Beauty

After we left Pompeii we aimed our car towards Sorrento. It is such a beautiful drive along high roads and cliffs all the way down to the blue of the Mediteranean Sea. There are millions of people that live in this area. It is not rural and it is not in the country. There are no open spaces, just house after house, business after business, car after care and scooters galore! Busy Busy Busy and so very beautiful. And I am saying that with a French accent because the French love this place although every nationality is here. The women are so pretty and the men are gorgeous and even the older women dress with flare and with their sunglasses on from the rear even the passionate Italian men look intense at the backsides and then when they get a look at the face they are surprised with wrinkles! It is fun to watch this play after play. Our hotel is wonderful and exceeded my expectations! The Hotel Cristina is on a hill over looking the Bay of Naples, Naples and the surrounding towns along the bay. The white of the buildings against the blue of the sea is awesome and I never tired of seeing it! I love my balcony and the restaurant with the same views and the swimming pool even high on the 6th floor the same wonderful views. We are here for 3 nights and I am so happy to be here!

On the first day we do not get here till 6:00pm. We went up to the pool because it closes at 7pm but we stayed till 7:30p then went down and got ready for dinner. It was delicious. I had Chicken Marsala with potatoes and spinach. YUM! And we sat outside on the patio overlooking...you got it...the Sea!

In the morning we are breakfast, it came with the room. Again we ate outside on the patio deck. I have my cornflakes every morning and bread and juice and panna cotta which is so good, it is actually a dessert!

e then took the shuttle bus down to Sorrento to get a Ferry across the Mediteranean Sea to the Isle of Capri! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
