While driving or living or playing in the Midwest you have to be aware of rainstorms in the area! Most people have a TV or a radio or a cell phone that will break into whatever is playing and state the emergency of a severe thunderstorm with lightening strikes, large sized hail or high winds or the dreaded funnel cloud! We have had the emergency warning come through our cell phones, on our radio, on Sandy's TV and in a rest area over a loud speaker warning us of an impending thunderstorm with baseball sized hail and damaging winds! It said to take cover because it could cause serious injury or death! This was happening just 30 miles south of us! We weren't sure what to do. We were on I70 west going to Denver and that county was that way but south. We asked a couple that was from Denver and were also headed that way! They listened to the emergency statement and said that the count they were talking about was south so they were going to go ahead and drive on. After about 25 minutes we gave up the idea of parking the car under a cement structure that was for a picnic table and drive on. We had some rain, heavy at times and some lightening but nothing bad. That day we made it to Limon, Colorado for the night! We were pooped!!!
