The Wright Brothers Memorial

The motto of North Carolina is “First In Flight”! Wilbur and Orville Wright came here from Ohio to test their flight in a manmade airplane. First of all, there was a hill, Secondly there was consistent wind, thirdly there was sand which meant a softer landing in case of a crash and fourthly there was privacy! This museum is very well done especially all the information outside at the sites where events took place. Luckily for us it had stopped raining through most of the time we were outside. It was cold today about 58 degrees but with the rain and wind it seemed colder than that. But the stop here at the Memorial was awesome!!! Years ago, Bud and I came through here and we had stayed the night about 57 miles south of here. It was beautiful sunny day our first day. But the second day it was pouring down rain. Well Bud was driving and he just kept driving past the Kitty Hawk Wright Brothers Memorial part of the National Park System. So here we are another rainy day but this time we stop and see it!
