Jerusalem-First Day-Finally

We are here in Jerusalem! Small busy streets filled with cars, taxis, small trucks and people everywhere! Muslims going home from work to cook dinner, and either have friends and family over for dinner or they all go out and celebrate Ramadan. Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic Calendar and Muslims worldwide observe this as a month of fasting. They fast from dawn to sunset and they refrain from eating food, drinking liquids and they do not get intimate. There is also an increase in prayer and recitation of the Quran. There are many Jewish people going to and from work and fun and family and also going to and from the Western Wall. The bus driver came very close to a parked car, I mean very close, so close that some men from the streets tried to move the car out of the buses was but it was too heavy. Travis, our son, suggested to the guys on our bus that they go down and help and they did! Yeah Travis you leader you!

Policemen came and told the bus driver we could leave because the car was moved and there was no damage to the car, so we kept on going. There were even vendors in the middle of the streets selling merchandise to anyone passing by. People crossed right in front of cars willy nilly and the bus got so close to them I closed my eyes, and then when I opened them everyone was where they wanted to be. Pure craziness! I would not drive in Israel, and that is a fact!
