Jerusalem-First Day-Garden of Gethsemane

Now I am going to sound like a historian but you will understand better just what the Garden means to Christians the world over. It is part of the Passion of Christ. Some Christians think it is the beginning of the Passion!

The accounts of the Passion are found in the 4 Gospels. The Passion befins with the Conspiracy against Jesus by the Jewish priests and the teachers of the law and unfolds in the following events:

During a meal a few days before Passover, a woman anoints Jesus. He says that for this she will always be remembered.

In Jerusalem, the Last Supper shared by Jesus and the disciples, Jesus gives final instructions, predicts His betrayal and tells them all to remember Him and the things He taught them.

On the path to Gethsemane after the meal, Jesus tells them they will all fall away that night, after Peter protests he will not, Jesus says Peter will deny Him 3 times before the cock crows.

Gethsemane, later that night, as the disciples rest (they were suppose to be supporting Jesus and praying with Him but they slept instead) Jesus prayed to His heavenly Father to remove the cup of wrath He was abut to drink but each time he submitted to the Father's will. He was exceedingly sorrowful unto death so God sent an angel from heaven to strengthen Him. The Church of All Nations (Church of Agony) was built here to mark this spot after earlier churches were destroyed.

After this, Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus to the high priests and pharisees by using a predetermined signal, a kiss. They arrested Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane but Peter trying to protect Jesus cut off Malchus' ear, but Jesus rebuked Peter and miraculously healed his ear. No one noticed and that had no effect on the crowd.
