Rome-St Paul's Church Outside The Walls
There was a surprise in store for us on the last day in Rome! I had seen in the travel books that there was a church outside the walls call St Paul's Basilica Outside the Walls. We had time to go in the morning and it didn't look to far so Travis, Bud and I decided to walk to it. Well we walked walked walked walked walked walked...in the hot hot hot and didn't see it. We asked several people and they didn't speak English. I asked two nuns and of course they knew where it was duh! But we had to catch a taxi because it was still a distance away. Travis found a taxi driver, we hopped in and we went to the church and asked him to wait for us, he did. The church was absolutely undeniably gorgeous. Built to honor St Paul. He was beheaded where the church sits now. The church has the tomb of St Paul and the chains that held him prisioner in Rome are in a glass case. If you come to Rome put this on your list of things to see. You will not be disappointed!
