Jerusalem-First Day-Capernaum

The ancient town of Capernaum was Jesus' town. It played a unique and important part of Christ's life and ministry and in His outreach to the people of Israel. He taught in the synagogue there. It was a large fishing village and Peter, James, Andrew, John and Matthew the tax collector were all from Capernaum. There were many miracles that took place here:

dead daughter of Jairus raised
drove evil spirit from a man in synagogue
paralyzed man let down thru roof and healed
Jesus caused 4 of the disciples to catch fish in miraculous ways
Thru a fish, Jesus supplied tribute tax money needed by Peter
healing of the centurions servant afflicted with palsy
healing of the son of a nobleman in the kings court
healing many other people and casting out demons as "all the city was gathered together at the door".

Despite all these miracles and Jesus living in their midst, the residents remained unrepentant disbelievers. Because of that they were strongly judged. Jesus said" It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the Day of Judgment than for thee". Ultimately, the cities were destroyed and Capernaum became uninhabited ruins for centuries.
