Jerusalem-Second Day-Passion

So the high priests and pharisees took Jesus away and questioned Him: Are you the Son of God? I am, Jesus replied. So they beat Him and said "Who do you think you are? To call yourself God? You must die for calling yourself the Son of God!" So they made a plan, take Him to Pontus Pilate, the Roman Governor, because only Romans were able to kill prisoners. They will tell Pilate that Jesus wants to be our king and then they will crucify Him.

Pilate questions Jesus and finds Him innocent, but the Jewish leaders and the crowd demand Jesus' death. Pilate cannot understand this because he knows that Jesus has done nothing wrong, nothing to deserve to be crucified. He trys again to make the crowd see this. He offers to save Jesus or a criminal named Barrabbas, the crowd yells for Jesus' death. So Pilate washes his hands of this situation and hands Jesus over to be crucified. Judas feels remorse at this time, tries to give the money back to the priests, they do not take it, Judas throws the money in the temple and goes off and hangs himself.

They send Jesus to a room to get ready for the crucifixion by beating Him and taunting Him that he needs to look like the King of the Jews, so they put a robe on Him and a crown of thorns.

Behind the grill work is the room where Jesus was readied for His crucifixion.
