Jerusalem-First Day-Jordan Valley

As we drove south towards Jerusalem, our guide Moishe told us at the south end of the Sea of Galilee we were about 15 miles from Syria! YIKES! And then we were just feet from Jordan. You can see in the one picture with the fence, the other side of that fence is Jordan! The other two pictures show the Jordan Valley. It is about 70 miles long and 8 miles wide from the south part of the Sea of Galilee to the north shore of the Dead Sea. All the land in the Jordan Valley belongs to Jordan, but Israel shares the water from the Jordan River with Jordan. Issues!!!!

There are many Jordan security check points along the border. The farmers have to go in and out of the check points to get to their fields. The borders are pretty quiet and has been for a long time.

The area is pretty dry and the only reason it is green is because of the Jordan River. The soil is very good for growing crops, very fertile land.
